2020 was one helluva year – a notorious year of uncertainty, disruption and isolation. Yet in all the negativity, we saw heroism and resilience. We adapted as a society – businesses went digital, and work from home became the new norm. We emerged stronger and coped with the sudden changes brought about by the pandemic.
What a year! While we are certainly glad it was over, it is good to review and take stock of how things have went. Let us have a look back at 2020 and see how it went for us:

In March, Filmplace expanded our operations to Malaysia.
In July, we established our company in Taiwan.
In September, out of 2,648 teams, we were one of the 60 teams to participate in the accelerator programme hosted by KSGC. After an intense 3 and a half months, we emerged proudly as Top 30 in the challenge!
In October, we have included an add-on COVID-19 disinfection service for increased safety. Both filmmakers and hosts can choose whether they want to disinfect the locations they book and when they would like the disinfection to take place. In November, we opened our branch in Korea and listed many locations from art exhibits, commercial spaces, and officetels. And despite the recency, we are receiving enquiries. Our team will be heading back in January to continue the second half of the challenge.
Also in November, we adjusted our interface by enhancing our chat system and revamping our listing procedures. Users can now look forward to a more comprehensive booking and listing experience. Kudos to our tech team for always being swift on their feet to respond to tech issues!
This year, the Filmplace community has attracted more than 1500 users, with 400+ locations globally listed on our marketplace.

In Mid June, we will be launching keyword search. That way, you can have a more specific search experience and navigate around the web easier.
Lastly, we will be introducing a tier-based rewards system sometime mid-2021. So the more bookings you get, the more discount you enjoy off your host fee!
